My name is Kat, but I'm known as UberJedi to those who know me as a once New York Jedi member (starting in early 2006) as well as for the fan fiction story I am still working on, but began posting several years back (and which I came back to after looking at the comments on the piece and seeing people's responses). I was also once a member of the Rebel Legion and the 501st, but I am no longer active in these groups.
As the demands of life began to increasingly diminish my ability to join in on New York Jedi time I eventually had to move away from the group, and in 2010 moved away from the state of NY entirely. Now a resident of MD and finally harnessing my power to tell a number of those life demands to stop trying to push me around, I'm finding that I long for the camaraderie of being part of a team of like-minded people (I had, for a time, been part of such a team here in Maryland with my coworkers, but the financial demise of the parent company ended in our studio being forced to close its own doors. It was heartbreaking to say the least).
And then I remembered how being part of New York Jedi was, in fact, being part of such a team, and that I made close friends while a part of that group that I still consider parts of my family now (years later). I also remembered visiting MD some years back and coming to a practice here and how everyone was so incredibly warm and welcoming.
And so here I am! I would love to come out to a practice, though I don't currently have a saber I can do battle with (my damaged MR Luke and undamaged MR Anakin I do not want to use for combat as MR no longer makes the sabers, and I do not currently have the funds for a new Hasbro version). I do have a bamboo sword that I've used for practice sessions many a time, but it is currently at my parents' house up in NY and not immediately accessible. I may be able to rectify this situation before the month is out, but if there were a practice session before then, if there happen to be any pieces I could borrow for that session I would be very appreciative.
I'm excited to start meeting people (or, as the case may be, seeing people I met years ago)!
To keep a long story... well, at this point, from being any longer than it already is, I will end my introduction here.
